Who owns giraffe?
giraffe was acquired by Tesco in March 2013 as part of its strategy to utilise some of the space in their larger stores, creating retail destinations that offer customers, in particular families, a compelling experience outside of their weekly shopping trip. The plan is to open in around ten Tesco Extra stores over the next few years whilst continuing with giraffe’s plans to open a small number of restaurants on the high street and in malls.

Who decides which dishes go on the menu?
Our development team work very hard on creating new and exciting seasonal dishes. We also listen to feedback from our guests and where possible try to work suggestions into the menu.
Can I make a booking?
Yes you can! We take bookings in most of our restaurants at all times (subject to availability). Book a table online now
Why don’t you take bookings at weekend brunch in some of your restaurants?
Weekend day times are the busiest time at giraffe and to keep it fair for everyone we may keep this time as first come first served.
Do you cater for parties?
Yes, parties – we have them! Whether it’s for a small get together or for 20+ people, we have hosted some brilliant parties! Get in touch more for information.
Is giraffe a kids restaurant?
We have a great reputation for being a fab place for families to relax and have a great meal, however by evening time, when the kids tend to be in bed, we change the music and have candles on tables which creates a much more ‘adult’ feel in the restaurant.
Do you cater for vegetarians?
Yes we do. Our current menu has many dishes suitable for vegetarians from breakfast, side dishes and mains.
I can’t eat gluten/nuts/dairy – can I still eat in your restaurant?

What is your tips & service charge policy?
Giraffe is committed to the Code of Best Practice on Service Charges, Tips, Gratuities and Cover Charges. All our employees receive at least National Minimum Wage and tips and service charge are paid in addition to National Minimum Wage.
Each of our restaurants operate in one of two ways allowing our customers to reward the staff for their hospitality, food and service.
- An optional service charge is added to your bill for the benefit of all staff and convenience and guidance for our guests. Guests can however amend the optional service charge to reward the team for their meal.
- Alternatively, a traditional discretionary tipping system may be in place. This means that no service charge is added to the bill and that the customer chooses how much to reward their server and team by either cash or credit card for the food and service that they have received.
All tips and gratuities go to staff and are controlled by a staff representative in each restaurant.
Why are you in the airports?
We were offered a great opportunity by TRG (the restaurant group) who license food and beverage concessions in UK airports. They felt that giraffe would be a refreshing change to airport dining by offering a great all day freshly cooked food restaurant. As TRG have experience in running concepts in airports we agreed to franchise our name to them and work very closely with them on a day to day basis. In 2012 we were also approached by Emirates Leisure Retail, a subsidiary of the Emirates Group about opening in the brand new Dubai International Terminal for the A380 Airbus. As a result, our first restaurant outside of the UK opened at the beginning of 2013!
We now have franchise restaurants located in London Heathrow (both T1 & T5 airside plus a juice bar landside in T5), Manchester Airport (airside) and London Gatwick Airport (landslide) and Dubai International Terminal 3 Concourse A.
